Bio

Temple City, also known as Temple City LoFi, is an intercontinental electronic music collaboration that began as a remote, internet-based project between producers in Los Angeles, California, and Frankfurt, Germany. The band describes their creative process as working “over a 6,000-mile wire,” passing songs back and forth until they achieve a unique sound blending influences from German electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream with elements of nature, sci-fi, and introspective themes. Their lyrics, when used in earlier works, ranged from geological concepts to dreamlike narratives, reflecting a poetic fusion of the earthly and the ethereal.

The core members include Dietmar Quistorf (keyboards, vocals and guitar, based in the USA) and Christoph Kolodziej (keyboards and guitar, based in Germany), who emphasize a visual and soulful approach to their identity. With part of the team operating out of Los Angeles, the project maintains a low-key, collaborative ethos focused on original music production.

Originally rooted in broader electronic styles such as, Trance, Deep House and Chill-out, Temple City pivoted in 2023 to exclusively creating instrumental LoFi chill beats, designed for relaxation, studying, or unwinding. Their music is released on platforms like Bandcamp, Spotify, and others, where they describe it as “a captivating journey through the soothing world of Lofi Chill music.” While specific details on their formation date or early discography remain sparse, the band’s story highlights the power of digital collaboration across continents, evolving from sci-fi-inspired electronic roots to serene, atmospheric LoFi instrumentals that evoke a sense of cosmic tranquility.
